Let's keep Madhubala's family off the streets

This fundraiser aims to cover one to two years of rent for an Indian family who was left unhoused after the sudden passing of their husband and father. The family includes an elderly woman, her adult daughter with a disability, and their pet dog.

The funds will be deposited into Madhubala's newly opened Capital One checking account, which I have access to, and will be used exclusively to make rent payments directly to their property management company, Castle PM. Statements will be provided to anyone who asks for transparency.

Back story

Hi, my name is Priti, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support in keeping Madhubala, her daughter, Megan and their 12 year old dog Maya, in a safe and stable home.

Two years ago, I met Madhubala, a 65 year old woman, and her adult daughter, Megan, who has a disability, living in an old car in Sterling. Their plight deeply moved Nupur (Founder of Anna Sudha) and me, and with the help of Anna Sudha and our incredible community, we were able to raise enough funds to secure them housing. Thanks to your generosity, they have had a roof over their heads for the past two years.

Now, we are facing a challenge. The lease for their home has been renewed for a third year starting May 1st, but rent has increased to $1,650 per month, and the funds from our initial GoFundMe are nearly depleted. Without additional support, Madhubala and Megan are at risk of losing their home.

I’m committed to ensuring they remain housed, but I can’t do it alone. We have explored county resources and were able to secure a housing voucher of $640 per month. However, this support may soon end, as it was designated for low-income families, and Madhubala lost her job shortly after receiving it. We are actively working to help her apply for Supplemental Security Income, but the process is long and uncertain in the current environment.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference in keeping them off the streets and in a safe, secure place they can call home.
