My name is Muhammad. I am a 19-year-old Gazan living in the North, in the Al-Rimal neighbourhood, just off Al-Shifa Medical Hospital, whose barbaric siege and destruction my family of four has lived through. I have been suffering from epilepsy, a chronic illness causing electrical increase and atrophy in the north brain hemisphere, since I was six months old. Right now, I am suffering beyond words.

My family of four consists of me, my father, mother, and my brother Karim, who is 14 years old. We endured the brutal two-week siege of Al-Shifa Medical Hospital, the horrors of which destroyed our souls and killed us inside many times over. I struggle to explain because how can words ever explain what it is to tremble behind a thin wall while an army is entertaining themselves, shooting at your house, knowing they are torturing human beings hiding inside? Cause, that's what they did to us.

For weeks, they shot at our house while they burned and destroyed everything around us. Words cannot explain the fear. I hope you never have to feel it. I don't want any human being ever to feel what they made us feel for those 15 days.

They injured my mother. She suffered wounds to her head and hand. Blood was everywhere. I thought she was dying.

In the end, we ran out of water and food. We also ran out of my medicines. Things have been getting worse ever since

.

In the North of Gaza, we are dying slowly, in many different ways. For someone with a serious chronic illness, this is an unspeakable situation. My condition is so complex and difficult, that even before the war, there was no help for me in Gaza. I underwent many operations, starting when I travelled to Egypt in 2006 with my mum at just six months old. In 2013, at the age of seven, my father took me to Jerusalem several times for a medical review, but in the end, we travelled back to Egypt, where I started receiving specialist care again in 2023. The ongoing genocide prevented my movement and ability to continue receiving any medical care at all.

When my parents took me to Egypt privately, my condition and my life improved significantly. But, since the beginning of the genocide, we have been trapped in the North, with the enemy blocking every passage, every aid convoy and every road. Nothing can get in or out, and people suffer greatly. There is no clean water or food. They destroyed everything in sight. There is nothing here, nothing left standing. Getting medicines is as realistic as thinking we could break the war siege with our bare hands. Which is all we got. Our hands. To search for the dear ones buried under rubble.

I am now having three to four seizures per day. Each time a seizure happens, I may not come out of it alive. The surge of electricity in my brain could kill me. My younger brother and my parents are helpless; all they can do is watch me suffer and wither in front of their eyes. Because my condition is progressive: without medicines, continuous seizures are damaging my brain, taking a little bit of me every time they strike. The longer this goes on, the less of me will remain.

I feel exhausted. I am exhausted. We all are. The War has drained our strength but they haven't killed our hope. There is help for me - on the other side of the border, there are medicines and specialist care. There is clean water, safety, and food - all of which every human has a right to.

I have a long, beautiful life ahead of me. I sing well and hope to become a famous singer, God willing. Perhaps you will come back to hear my singing. There is rarely any internet. I have dreams....I dream of travelling to Egypt and seeing my mum smile again.

In the end, I hope that, if you're reading this, it's because you care. I hope you will reach out and take my hand. Because, you are our lifeboat. Without you, without your help, I don't know what will become of us.

I thank you for taking the time to read and think of us. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate you ❤️️ and every bit of help you can give us. We will never forget it. Thank you. I wish you a long, happy and safe life ❤️️

How many months ago, how much has the world changed in us?

As a child, I stopped feeling my childhood. My childhood was gone in this war of fear, oppression, and bearing responsibility. I cannot go to my school to continue my studies or play karate in the club. I and my brother Muhammad are like we were before.

I feel that my brother Muhammad and I have grown up and we are not our age.
