Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to give you an update on my project to build a home for a family in Tijuana, Mexico with Build a Miracle Foundation. My mom recently met the family who are the beneficiaries of the house we are building. She met them when she went down to help build a house with our friends the Prosi's. The Guerrero family consists of dad (Orlando), mom (Sonia), Jose Luis (7), Fani (4), Rosmar (2 months) have qualified for a new house through their endless hours donating time and energy to the community center built by Build a Miracle. In order to qualify they must own the land on which the house will be built, must have their children enrolled in school and demonstrate that they are drug free. We are excited about our family and the amazing gift that we can give to them. We thank you for your contributions and will keep you posted with the dates we will be going to help build the house. If you would still like to donate we are currently 8,000 dollars short of the amount necessary to fund the home building. Also Facebook is matching contributions on Giving Tuesday this coming Tuesday Dec. 3 starting at 8am eastern time on a first come basis for a total of $7 million, to contribute, “friend my mom” (Gail Salter) on facebook if you wish to contribute this way. We are going to make our family contribution at that time on Facebook.

Dear friends and family,
I recently went with my neighbors to help them build a house for a family in Tijuana Mexico they were sponsoring through the Build a Miracle Foundation. When I went with them I was shocked by where the family was living. They were living in a shack without running water, with dirt floors and a tarp for a roof. I was also shocked at how deeply and sincerely they appreciated their new home that we participated in building and funding. After that experience I decided that I wanted to help more and even sponsor my own family to help them build a new house and give them a dry, warm and safe place to call home and the chance for a better life.
Build a Miracle is a unique organization in that 100% of the money to the program goes directly to helping build homes and to provide better education programs in Tijuana. Build a Miracle is a 501(c)3 non-profit so all donations are tax deductible. I am trying to raise $16,000 in order to build a home for a family living in Mexico. I have not been matched up with a family yet, but as soon as I am I will share the information and photos. Also the money that I would like to raise for my family will not only go to building them a better house, but it will also guarantee that the children will receive support (financial, tutoring, role models) to get through high school (as opposed to typically dropping out of elementary school) and college scholarships. A complete transformation for them and future generations! We will also have the opportunity to keep in touch with the family.
Build a Miracle was started in 1985 by two San Diego residents. They have built over 320 homes and have built a community center that serves over 100 kids each day. All recipients of new houses are required to spend 500 hours of time giving back to the community. Build a Miracle also provides eduction to hundreds of students and has raised money to provide college scholarships to 26 students. This is a proven well established program.

Every little donation helps, and no donation is too small. My goal is to raise enough money to build the house by December 31, 2019. It would also be great if you would like to join in the house building process as well. You would not only help build the house but you would get to meet the family being sponsored and other members of the Build a Miracle community. This process is done in 3 steps: mix and pour the foundation, put in insulation and drywall, and to paint and decorate the house. I will provide the build dates and details soon.
