Run for Tom

Hi everyone , I am

hoping to run my first marathon on June 1st in Cork to raise funds for the Cork branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and in memory of my beautiful father, Tom who died on September 7th after a brave , courageous battle with stomach cancer .

My father spent the last 18 years of his life including time throughout his treatment and illness volunteering at local and national level with the MS society .

His passion for the MS society came about following my mother Ellen’s diagnosis and later passing from the illness in 2004 . He cared for my mam for 21 years throughout her illness with respect and humour in all he did for her.

He was strongly linked with the Cork branch and had a fire within him to help where he could and do more ..

Inspired by this, and to honour him I am calling my attempt to run this marathon , Run for Tom , to raise much needed funds for the Cork Branch of the MS society .. and ultimately to remember my father Tom ,his work , his devoted care of my mother, his joy for life in the face of every adversity .. and for fighting a long courageous battle with steely determination to stay with us for as long as he could ..

This is my Run for Tom .

Every cent raised will go towards making life for those with MS that little bit better,just as my father aimed to do .
