They say it takes a village ... Let's help Jo
Donation protected
This last year has been one of the hardest for Joanne and her tribe. We decided it was time to step up and help, can you help too?
They say it takes a village to raise a child. You have the chance to be Joanne's village. Throughout the past year you have seen tidbits of the struggle Joanne faces on a daily basis. Her son, a once happy and healthy 14 year old boy has deteriorated into someone they do not recognize most days. Being a teenager you are vulnerable. Jack was an up and coming sports star and all around good kid but outside forces such as local gangs, drugs and mental health issues are tearing this future apart. Joanne has done everything she possibly could and beyond to help her son. She has battled hospitals, support workers, rehabilitation facilities, local members of parliament, near daily visits from police, threats on her life and her families lives from gang members and dealers and the mental health and addiction of her son. Jack has fought her at every turn verbally, emotionally and physically. This is the last hope of saving her son from himself. A fresh start away from all the troubles he has involved himself in, a chance to gain back control of his mental health and the mental health of his family, a chance to BE a family again.
We need your help to raise enough funds to get Joanne and the tribe out of Sydney and out of Australia. This gofundme is to help cover the expenses of moving to New Zealand. This is where home is for Joanne and her family. There is a support system in place for her and the family in New Zealand. There is a chance of better care for Jack and an opportunity to save him from the local gangs clutches, to get him away from the easily accessible drugs made available to him by "friends".
It is not cheap relocating such a large family and while Joanne has done her best the costs just keep mounting as Jack deteriorates further. It's time that we all give a hand up. If Joanne has ever made you laugh or if you have ever struggled yourself with mental health and/or addiction now is the time to show your appreciation, now is your time to help.
