The only gift Ukrainian moms want this Mother's Day is safety for their children and families. There is no one for whom the horrors of war are worse.

Ksenia worries constantly about the safety of her husband, Alex, her father, and her brother’s family, still in Ukraine, but the decision to leave was quick: she and Alex wanted their son, David, to be “as far away from Putin as possible”. Ksenia’s mom, Lydia, would accompany them, as she was concerned for her daughter’s and grandson’s safety and could help with David’s care. Ksenia and Lydia: two moms doing everything possible and previously unimaginable to protect their child.

Not everyone has both space and time to devote to hosting but you can help in other ways. We need to raise funds to cover the cost of flights. They need medical exams here, not covered by OHIP. They need clothing. And finally, because Ksenia hopes to find work making her unique cakes until she secures a permanent job, she needs baking supplies.
