5th Annual Toy Drive for The Olive Branch

The Olive Branch is a special holiday shop hosted by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) and made possible through the generosity of our community. This year marks our 5th annual toy drive! Each year, this shop is filled with brand-new toys, homemade items, games, and gifts—all donated with care and kindness. Families receiving in-home services from DCF, as well as youth in group homes and independent living, are invited to shop at no cost for items they know their children will enjoy. Parents who are reunifying with their children may shop alone or alongside their child’s foster parent, creating moments of connection and joy during the holiday season.
No money is exchanged at The Olive Branch. Instead, families shop with dignity, choosing gifts that reflect their children’s unique personalities and interests. This experience connects the community in a meaningful way, demonstrating how collective goodwill can make the holidays brighter for Connecticut families. Donations to this fundraiser will be used to purchase toys and gifts for the shop, ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can experience the spirit of the holidays.
When I think of the Holidays and a child that may be going to bed in foster care, I think about what this time of year could mean to them. With the hope of generous donations, these children can have the spirit of Christmas regardless of where they are. The Olive Branch serves as a way for parents to shop for their children and strive to keep their families together. Wishing you all a joyous Holiday season!
