Purpose from pain: making safe space for date rape survivors

Donation protected
Date rape is deeply traumatic, often leaving individuals feeling isolated and silenced. Statistics tell us that 20% of students have experienced unwanted sexual behaviour and only 12% of students who experienced sexual violence in the last year made a formal report to their university. Most delay disclosure — many never speak out at all causing untold personal damage

My family and I know this first-hand.
We are on a mission to change that.

How?
By building a student-focused date rape support app - a safe, discreet, and neutral first step for survivors to find out what help is available at their university.

With a group of experts volunteering to steer this unique project, while leveraging inhouse research and management expertise, we know we can make this happen. Survivors deserve to know that they are not alone.

Why This App?
A Safe First Step: This will be exclusively for date rape survivors, providing a clear path to university support resources unlike existing apps that can include spiking, general violence, or bullying.
Designed by Survivors, for Survivors: Young people with lived experience will co-design everything—from the name to the look—to ensure real engagement.
Nationwide Impact: Our goal is to roll this out across all UK universities, making support universal.

We have already received interest from a number of universities. This is timely as new national regulations come into force on 1st August 2025 where Universities and Higher Education Colleges in England will now be required to take ‘significant and credible’ steps to prevent and respond effectively to harassment and sexual misconduct in their institutions.

What We Need:
We are raising £80,000 to fund:
✅ A dedicated researcher to work with survivors to co-design an app that truly meets their needs
✅ A developer to build the app
✅ Engage across multiple channels leveraging my extensive network to onboard universities nationwide
✅ Awareness raising activity

How You Can Help:
If this mission speaks to you, please donate and share to help us make this a reality.
Every pound raised will bring us one step closer to a future where more survivors feel safe enough to seek help.
We are in the process of setting up a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) to best manage this project and ensure that the potential of all donations is maximised.
If we raise over the target, additional funds will go towards widening reach. If we do not raise enough money, please be assured that all donated funds will be given to a chosen Rape Crisis Charity.

We are so grateful for your support
