On March 18, Jim underwent a routine laminectomy in Vacaville, CA, to relieve pressure on his spinal column. Unfortunately, complications arose, and he suffered a spinal cord injury. This resulted in a six-week hospital stay, during which Jim had to relearn basic functions such as walking, feeding himself, and managing everyday tasks most of us take for granted.

However, Jim now faces a long and challenging road to recovery, filled with intensive rehabilitation and ongoing medical care. In addition to the physical and emotional toll, Jim and his devoted wife, Debbie, are also confronting a substantial financial burden—one that persists despite having health insurance.

Ongoing Medical Care: To give Jim the best chance at a full recovery, he’ll need extensive physical and occupational therapy for months to come. These treatments are essential to help him regain his independence—and to one day step back onto the school bus he loves so much.
