Lotus Heart of Hope Foundation

Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,

Born and raised in Bartica, Guyana. Growing up in a challenging environment, I experienced firsthand the hardships of poverty. From the age of four, I took on the responsibility of caring for my sick grandmother and helping to provide for us by selling plantain chips outside the local cinema. Despite the difficulties of my early life, including missing much of my schooling due to these responsibilities, my resilience and determination shaped my path.

At the age of eight, an unexpected opportunity arose when my aunt and cousin from the Netherlands visited Guyana. My cousin’s close bond with me led to my relocation to the Netherlands, where I faced new challenges but continued to persevere. Moreover, dealing with the trauma of my grandmother’s passing and the struggles of adapting to a new country, I nonetheless excelled while working hard to support myself and my family. I also completed my education, built a successful career at a large international Dutch bank, and rose to a high-level position.

Furthermore, with a deep-seated desire to give back to the community that shaped me, I now channel my passion into the Lotus Heart of Hope Foundation. My journey of overcoming adversity fuels my commitment to helping others, and my foundation proves my belief in the power of humanitarian work. Through this organization, I seek to provide opportunities and resources to those in need across Guyana, making a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of others.

Our Projects

The foundation’s work is organized into various projects, each focused on addressing a specific issue within the community. For example donate clothing, shoes to people on welfare, distribute hampers or anything the people in need ask for.

Each project is designed with community involvement at its core. We believe in the power of collaboration and will work closely with local leaders, volunteers, and organizations to ensure that our efforts are not only impactful but also sustainable. Participants in our programs are encouraged to take active roles, ensuring that they not only receive help but are also part of the process of change.
