My name is Kelli Green-Evans, 49, from Canada.

Choose Your Own Adventure Books were a popular trend in the 80’s. Readers were given the opportunity to make choices and ultimately choose the characters actions and the plot’s outcome. Over 184 of these books made it to print and thousands of fictional adventures were enjoyed.

It is now 2024 and I have chosen my very own real-life adventure. I’m about to embark on a journey, one that includes challenges I have never faced, endurance that will push me to my limits, and will result in a climb equivalent to 29029 ft, 48 km in 36 hours. I will be one of 250 athletes worldwide competing in 29029 Everesting in Salt Lake City Utah in August 2024. This race is new to the world of Ultra Endurance and is now considered one of ten unmissable events to do this year by National Geographic.

My decision to participate in this incredible experience was made when it became more and more clear that I needed a new focus. One that gave me a sense of purpose and achievement. One that would contribute to both my physical and mental well-being.

While my personal mental health journey has included both struggle and setback, it has also taught me the power and importance of support and shared experiences. I would like this race to not only be about my personal goals, but also about raising awareness surrounding positive mental health. It takes a village to make good things happen, and my intention is to seek support from local businesses and this GO FUND ME campaign.

I not only want to complete this race, I want to conquer it. I want to show my daughters and women of all ages what grit and perseverance look like. I want to prove to myself that I can do hard things. I am committed and excited and would love the strength of my family, friends, and community behind me.
