Please save this beautiful baby, Miah Grace "“ Our connection to this little princess goes back before she was even born. Her birth mother has two older children, both boys, that she abandoned early on in their lives. When BM (birth mom) found out she was pregnant, she asked Nate and I if we would "take this baby". She did not want to be a mom. Later on in her pregnancy, she found out that this baby was a girl and second-guess her initial thoughts of wanting to mother this baby. When Miah Grace was born, BM decided to give parenting a shot. Shortly after that baby was born, Miah was left at her birth grandmothers house while BM "needed some alone time". Miah was left for almost a full year. When BM came back into the picture, she was heavily dependent on prescription drugs and major alcohol abuse. The birth father denied his blood connection to Miah from the very beginning. After all, BF (birth father) had fathered five other children from several other women and supported none of them.
The next 18 months of this angel babies life is something that I cannot even describe in words. She has experienced more in her two little years than I ever have in my 36 years on earth. From the horror stories that are documented in police reports, to the stories that the birth family has told me, I only pray that one day I can forget these awful events and images in my head. I pray even more that my baby girl will also be able to forget them and grow past them, not allowing them to hold her back in life!
I received a phone call shortly after Miah turned two from her BM, and this is what she said "I am done being a mom. Never should have been one. If you still want her, even though she is not a baby anymore, you can have her. Otherwise I am going to give her to the state." The next day we were given our baby.
Miah was in poor health, trusting nothing and no one, waking up five and six times a night screaming out the most horrific pleadings to "please don't hurt me!" "Stop it!" "Owie!" & just sheer screams! She scarfed down every piece of food she was given as if it may be her last.
The first attempted bath was the most awful thing I have ever experienced in my life. She, more or less, was fighting & pleading for her life to "please don't! please don't!" First time in the car she begged and begged "not want to go ! I be good ! I want to stay here! Please No!" The list goes on and on. But as time has gone by, She is healthy! She is happy! She loves her baths! She loves and trusts her daddy. She has tons of big brothers and a big sissy she adores. And a momma bear that would rather die than let anything bad happen to her baby, ever again! Miah is thriving and finally starting to trust and connect. Prayers are being answered daily! Her BF has gotten wind that we are in the process of adopting Miah. With an arrest record of over 21 incarcerations, 2 prison terms served. And currently skipped out on bail hearing, running from the law, he is not currently in this state. But because of his heritage, he has been issued a "pro bono" attorney.
After speaking with BF over the phone, I asked him why he was fighting us about the adoption. His reply was "Because I can." With no home, he is a drifter. No job. Never out of jail for more than a 6 month period. "Possession with intent to distribute" charges are his most common charges. His father serving a life sentence for murder. His brother serving a life sentence for attempted murder of a POLICE OFFICER. His sister is in and out of rehab and her 2 kids have been in and out of the foster care system almost a half dozen times. His mom is not in the picture. This is NOT where my baby girl ever EVER needs to worry about going back to. Her BM has already gone to court and terminated her parental rights. We were half way "home" with this adoption and then BF decides to put up a fight.
Her native tribe has had a council meeting and decided that it is in Miah's best interest to stay with us. The social workers have said the same thing. Unfortunately, because we are dealing with an ICWA case, her BF is allowed to have a trial and have the judge determine what is in Miah's best interest. Nate and I, along with both my mom's have invested over $15000.00 just to get this far. We have nothing more to borrow against. No more credit to leverage. THE ATTORNEY HAS BEEN PAID THE 2,000$ RAISED SO FAR & NEEDS REMAINING AMOUNT BY FRIDAY, FEB. 28TH.
We are at our knees praying for a miracle! I know that it is by the GRACE of GOD that MIAH GRACE was able to escape her previous life of torture, abuse, starvation, molestation, neglect, etc. and find her way home to us! I pray that by that same GRACE, we can raise the funds necessary to SAVE our baby!
