Western Family Farm Start-Up Fund
Donation protected
Hey there! We're Nate Masse and Clare Price and we have operated a small diversified market garden called Western Family Farm since 2019. We lease a beautiful plot of historic agricultural land in La Puebla, NM, bordered by the Acequia de Maestas and the Santa Cruz River. Our farming practices align with the principles of regenerative agriculture- building fertility with compost, green manures, living mulches, and minimum tillage.
We would very much like to continue being responsible land stewards and growing food for our community. However, in the current economic climate it is difficult for us as small scale farmers to generate enough profit to fund critical infrastructure projects at our new farm location. We need your help to continue!
Your contribution would pay for three crucial components that would allow us to continue with our season as planned and provide fresh produce to Santa Fe County through our CSA and farmers market.
1. Locally made compost: Our field was used as a pasture for many years and suffers from low fertility and compacted soil.
2. Drip irrigation tubing: In the summer we experience unpredictable water shortages and need to add drip tape to our system to effectively utilize the water we do have.
3. Seeds for the season: Everybody needs seeds!
We believe that caring for the land is our responsibility, and view our work as a community endeavor. As experienced farmers, we are confident that your donations will help secure the successful long term future of Western Family Farm. Your contribution is so important, and means so much to us. Thank you for your support!
We also offer a Farm Share CSA for local folks. To learn more visit our website or find us on Instagram @westernfamilyfarm
