"MEMORY NOTES SAVE LIVES - Nursing Home Reform"
Tax deductible
If you know about Kathy Moeller Herried's life's work, you probably know she has spent 30+ years teaching people about the value of "Memory Notes." Little did she know they would save her life one day!
When I found out about her experinece in a nursing home last year -- and how she used her latest note-making invention to save her own life when she found herself "helpless and hopeless" in an Oregon nursing home, the idea for this fund raiser was born.
This is her frightening story!
After contracting Covid last year, Kathy used an iPhone app she designed and used called LET ME CHECK MY NOTES (R) to track the missing medication she needed for her Parkinson's Disease, the names of nurses who tried to give her meds for conditions she did not have, problems using call buttons, Grievance Forms that had "disappeared"... and more.
She finally checked herself out "against medical advice," arranged for her own home health care, and lived to tell the tale.
After her experience, Kathy wasn't sure she could work again. PTSD, depression and physcial challenges from Parkinson's had taken their toll.
However, after contacting me and getting treatment for the after-effects of being in "the facility," she decided to expand work on a "Family Support" version of the app she used for herself so everyone who needed to track a person's care would be able to make the kinds of minute-to-minute notes she had made for herself. That's what this fundraiser is for -- continued development of the Family Support version of LET ME CHECK MY NOTES!
Due for release this fall, the plan is to donate free copy of the app to the first 150 donors who want it -- either for themselves or a family member who can use it. If there are any delays with the publishing date, our commitment is to get it to you as soon as possible!
Donations of $500 or more and the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon will send you a copy of the book, ABUSES and EXCUSES -- HOW TO HOLD BAD NURSING HOMES ACCOUNTABLE.
Together we can empower the most vulnerable people in our community, and their loved ones.
Remember, your donation will go toward making a difference in people’s lives -- those with neurological disorders and their families.
All donations are tax deductible and we will send you a letter with donation information to use for tax purposes.
Please donate what you can TODAY!
