Jason's Recovery

Hi, my name is Jennifer and on March 18th I got the call that shook our family to the core. My husband Jason was on his way to work at 6:30 AM going uptown on the FDR Drive. Jason has been riding his motorcycle for 4 years without any incident, always wearing his PPE, helmet, bright orange reflective riding jacket and gloves. As he slowed down in traffic and his feet touched the ground he was rear ended by a distracted driver in a van. His motorcycle flew ahead and he got caught by the car, the driver didn't stop immediately and dragged him underneath it. When she did stop witnesses said he somehow pulled himself out from under her van. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he underwent a 6+ hour surgery to reconstruct his left wrist and hand, he suffered spinal compression, 4 compression fractures in his back and massive bruising to his left side. My husband is a walking miracle, EMS and doctors all said that he shouldn't have survived, but he did. Thanks to his helmet, PPE and a guardian angel.

I am immensely grateful that we got to take him home.

Unfortunately his injuries were extensive and he will be out of work for the foreseeable future. We have two young boys ages 5 and 2. I know that between medical bills, general bills, rent etc., NY also has a really rough no 'no fault' coverage for motorcycle drivers, and short term disability is really low especially in NY.

I alone cannot cover it all and I am reaching out for help so we dont drown in debt the next few months while we focus on his recovery and getting him back to normal.
