Summer 2022 my husband, Terry (a.k.a. LaMont to his family) was diagnosed with kidney cancer after an emergency room visit. Days earlier he noticed what appeared to be blood in his urine that persisted which lead him to go. Because he takes a lot of vitamins and supplements he assumed it had to be something he took. Once examined, the doctor found he had kidney stones in both kidneys. After further testing, they found a mass.
Within months, Terry's prognosis seemed to have worsened according to his 2nd doctor's opinion and he was now considered a stage 4 patient with cancer spreading throughout his body. While waiting on lab results and reviewing all of their options, we made a conscious decision to reach out to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Illinois for a final opinion - Thank God we did!
Once in the complete care of CTCA they swiftly did a full body examination and decided to remove the kidney. After giving his body time to heal we recently went back for a follow-up. The test results from the lab had come back as well from the kidney; they found that Terry's cancer was not spreading! His kidney was attempting to mutate within his body and reaching for anything to stay alive!!! Once removed, it halted everything. This means he doesn't have to do radiation or chemo!! They will do targeted and immunotherapy only to remove the rest of cancer!
Terry's journey to health has not been easy but worth it to get to where he is today. Although we are grateful for all the medical attention he has received thus far, it has certainly come with a steep price - and it's not over. He/we are blessed to have insurance in addition to monetary gifts from family, friends, co-workers and organizations. However, the financial burden we now carry is heavier than what we ever could have imagined and we have exhausted our funds.
WE ARE DOERS! Asking for anything is not easy; especially for Terry! I am glad he agreed to go this route. What will it hurt to ask?!
How can you help? Please consider giving whatever you can to help offset our expenses. We certainly wouldn't ask if we weren't in need. We truly appreciate whatever you can do to help! Thank you in advance. The Wortheys
