Amputee Rehabilitation Fund

Hi, my name is sedrick Duane Smith Jr. I am 23 years old. Im originally from the Cedar Creek/Bastrop area, until my family recently moved to the San Marcos Tx. I've attended BISD schools my whole life. I went to Cedar Creek Elementary, Red Rock Elementary, Cedar Creek Intermediate, Cedar Creek Middle, Bastrop High, and graduated from Cedar Creek High School. I went on to receive my Associates degree in Applied Science from Ranger College in Ranger Tx. I worked as a Produce Stocker for H.E. B in New Braunsfuls Tx. On November 12, my life changed forever, I was hit by a train. I was not in a vehicle, I was on foot. Nobody knows how or why this happened. I went out for a night on the town with some friends, and ended up almost loosing my life. The train caused massive injuries. I ended up shattering my right arm, breaking my ribs, breaking my clavicle, shattering my right leg, breaking my back, and I was internally decapitated. I lost a lot of blood, and required two blood transfusions, that caused a blood clot near my lungs. The most detrimental injury i sustained was my below the knee amputation of my left leg. I will never be able to walk again without a prosthetic leg. The fact that im alive is a miracle from God. I believe that it's His perfect will that I didn't die that night on those train tracks. I am so thankful that God spared me. I am happy to be alive. But due to these serious injuries, and the care it took to save my life, the thousand of dollars of medical bills feels overwhelming. A prosthetic alone is $35,000. A leg amputation is $12,000. My bills total a whopping $100,000. I've been working since the fifth grade, however I'm out of work currently due to my severe disability.
