ANSWERING THE CALL TO A SOCIAL NEED

Research shows that 30% to 50% of youth who leave foster care will face massive challenges with obtaining affordable housing, adequate employment, mental health support, and life skills development to succeed in a volatile society!

It is on this premise that Solid Rock Family Services remains committed to serving Toronto/GTA's most vulnerable populations by developing robust services and transitional programs that will help position them for success.

THE POPULATION WE SERVE

While our services and supports are designed for the most vulnerable, regardless of race or ethnicity, as an equitable organization, we have a specialized focus on Black and other marginalized communities, with the goal of reducing the Black representation in the child welfare system and providing transitional homes and support for these individuals.

SAFE AND SECURE HOUSING & NURTURING ENVIRONMENT

On Wednesday, March 29th, 2023, Solid Rock Family Services launched our first home for transitional youth in Hamilton where we will provide a clean, warm, and stable home, a supportive community, and a loving and nurturing environment for our young people to thrive.

We are looking for sponsorships and donations to achieve our vision to empower the most vulnerable children, youth, and families to create a positive and lasting generational impact by fostering quality of life, family wellness, and economic sustainability.

FUNDING SUPPORT NEEDED

Our aim is to raise funding that will aid us in the first few months to pay overhead costs and develop and deliver transformational programs and resources within a 1, 2, and 3-year transitional model in order to to provide youths with the quality support to position them for future success.

We are building upon our team of licensed social workers, youth workers, psychotherapists, financial planners, and coaches who will, through this home, provide several programs and access to resources including the following:

• 24-hour onsite staff support (2 staff each shift)

• Mental/Emotional Support

• Academic Advising & Higher Education Support

• Job Search Skills Training (resume writing, interview skills, etc.).

• Life Skills & Support

• Financial Education & Planning

• Healthy Meals & Snacks

• Toiletries & Personal Hygiene Products

• 2-story detached home

• 6 bedrooms (3 rooms upstairs/3 downstairs)

• 2 full bathrooms

• washer/dryer on site

• big backyard and driveway

Solid Rock Family Services is a registered non-profit family service and child welfare corporation that offers holistic counseling, coaching, training, and mentorship services and programs that help to Educate, Heal and Transform individuals and families.

We partner with School Boards, Children’s Aid, and other Social Service agencies, to provide proactive and responsive solutions and resources that help the most vulnerable children, youth, and families in the areas of:
