Hi and thank you for taking the time to visit this fundraiser for such a deserving person!

For many years Shanda was an independent hair stylist having received extensive education and awards. They say if you love what you do than you'll never work a day in your life. That truly was the case for her. She was very passionate about her work and was incredibly lucky to have countless clients come back time and time again.

About two years ago Shanda started losing her vision. It quickly progressed to the point that she was no longer able to work in the salon. It was utterly heart breaking for her. Though, she is tough and continued to pursue various work-from-home opportunities. That has also come to an end because of her near blindness.

Shanda has been receiving injections in both of her eyes on a regular basis. There is also surgery coming up, but the doctors have honestly explained that it will only help slow the demise of her sight. As of right now she has virtually no vision in her left eye and the right eye is down to about 30%. So, because of that she is not able to work or, of course, drive and even simple tasks at home are becoming challenging.

Anyone who knows Shanda knows that she is a fun-loving and very compassionate person who has always been willing to help out with others in need any way she can. With that, Shanda adopted her daughter Elliot when she was just a baby. Now she is eight years old. When you talk to Shanda there is no doubt that she could ever begin to express how much Elliot means to her. Even with her blindness, Elliot will always be the light of her life!

With all that said, this is why this fundraiser has been created. We are hoping that people who know Shanda, and others, will find it in the goodness of their hearts and sense of generosity to help her out. Her goal is to give Elliot a better life regardless of what she is dealing with. Your donations will go towards basic necessities like groceries, essential bills, clothing/school supplies/etc. for Elliot and any other unexpected but critical expenses.
