We're adopting!
Since Josh and I are in 2 different countries at the moment, we wanted to share our story in 2 different ways. Josh wrote a letter, found below, and I recorded a video. Please consider taking the time to read about and/or listen to our story and hear about how you can be a part of it!
Found in the hearts of people around the world is the desire to be a mother, or a father, and so it is with Tori and me. We dream of tickle fights, kissing boo boo’s, and yes, even changing diapers. We want our baby to grow as we shower them with love and teach them right from wrong. Getting pregnant however, has been a long, and difficult road for Tori and me. After years of trying without success we are now turning our focus to adoption.
Just as God has adopted us into his family, we are very excited about growing our family through adoption! Our imaginations and our hearts take flight as we wonder whether we will receive a boy or a girl. Will he have curly hair? Will she have hazel eyes? Will he be goofy? Will she be studious or athletic? All we know is that they will always have a heart full of love from gracious people who are thankful to be called Mom and Dad.
We have cleared many of the adoption process hurdles to include being approved by a home study agency! But we still have several more obstacles and we need your help. We ask with great humility for you to walk with us in this because it will take the effort of our village to adopt this child. We need prayer, emotional support, social media likes and shares, and funds. Adopting is a very expensive process and many people ask where it all goes. Money goes towards social workers, lawyers, doctors, care for the expectant mother, and travel to get our baby. At first, I was overwhelmed at the thought of raising the money, but I realized something; we have a God who understands how much adoption costs. When God adopted us as sons and daughters, he didn’t pay dollars and cents, he paid with the life of Jesus.
So as we give thanks, we are learning a lot about ourselves and each other as we run this race and one day soon, we will reach the happy finish line. In whichever way you contribute, we will always be thankful to you.
