Volunteer Trip to Tanzania + Kilimanjaro

Hi, I'm Evan Glessner and I'm currently loving life as a freshman at UC Santa Barbara. I'm studying for a double major in Economics and Environmental Studies since I have always been fascinated by the workings of both the economy and the environment. During my tenure at UCSB, I hope to further my education to eventually work in a field that promotes economic development and environmental sustainability. I aspire to help solve the significant environmental issues facing our generation as well as assisting the less fortunate. Thankfully, through GIVE (Growth International Volunteer Excursions), I will be travelling to Tanzania to provide a well-rounded education, consisting of health, hygiene, sports, and English, among other things, to the youth through 1-on-1 sessions with the children. Lack of education, unfortunately, is not the only challenge in Tanzania as there are serious shortages of clean drinking water. GIVE volunteers propose to solve this life-threatening problem by building a well out of recycled water bottles and constructing water sanitation systems. These projects will serve as a lesson in sustainability for the children and adults in the community and we hope to make a profound impact on their life condition and general happiness. After our time spent volunteering with the community, we will embark on a life-changing excursion to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world and Africa's highest point. On this trip I hope to make a significant impact on the lives of others, but also seek to better myself as a person through reflection and thought. Unfortunately, to realize my goal, transportation, visas, supplies, and accommodations must all be accounted for and I simply cannot afford it alone. This is why I must politely request to all those who are reading this to help me fund this life-changing experience for myself and, more importantly, for those who benefit from our actions in Tanzania. Any donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated as it will draw me closer to reaching my goal and will contribute to a great cause. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for whatever you are able to do to help.
