500 Miles for Recovery: Donate to the Healing Place
Tax deductible
My name is Robert Carranza. I am 30 years old and what some would call a former "frequent flier" at the Healing Place, a non-profit organization which aims to help addicts and alcoholics find recovery. I never was able to complete the program, but it literally saved my life many times over the span of 7 years. I am now a little over 4 months sober and trying to raise money via miles on my bicycle from September 1st-September 30th. My goal is 500 miles. If anyone would like to donate whatever they can, per mile, per 100 miles, whatever they can afford, all funds would go to the Healing Place of New Hanover County through GoFundMe. I will keep my progress updated daily on my Instagram story and Strava, starting September 1st, so follow me on IG @robbdadood and on Strava as Robert Carranza!
I never got to complete the program, but every time I was there, I would say "I'm gonna give back one day." This is one attempt to give back! The use of funds will of course be under the discretion of the Healing Place of New Hanover County, but I've been around enough to know they'll probably spend it on meals for the residents, different hygiene supplies they may need, just keeping the lights on, etc. Like I said, they are completely non-profit, so your dollar might truly help a good soul get sober and find a new life! Thank you!
