Sonny's 500 mile Uncle to Uncle bike ride!
In small rural communities across Kenya living conditions are often very poor, making life for vulnerable members of the community challenging. The lack of education and sanitary facilities negatively influence the lives of the people in these places. These people are often forced to take drastic measures to sustain themselves such as shooting away elephants that trespass their farms, in an attempt to save their crops, as farming is often their only source of income. I believe that people who can help others that need it, such as I, must! Everybody deserves help.
I will be going to 4 locations in rural Kenya where I will take part in the construction of schools, homes and toilet facilities for the most vulnerable people in these areas. I will also be partaking in wildlife conservation projects that will deter animals such as elephants from local farmland, therefore removing the need for farmers to use weapons to scare them off, making certain they are not injured or killed.
The money that you donate will be spent on all the travel and equipment that I will need as well local tradesmen that will teach me how to build structures using accepted traditional methods. It will also support my involvement with small microbusinesses that communities have set up with the support of Camps International. Not only that but 10% of all donations will be put towards the Cystic Fibrosis trust that will help fund clinical trials and research into the disorder that look at treatments and prevention for those who suffer from this horrible illness.
My ultimate goal for working in Kenya over the month is simply to help local communities towards becoming financially and environmentally sustainable, as well as ensuring that clean and sanitary conditions are available for everyone in the area.
