$50 for 50 Years: Supporting the Vietnamese Legacy in Canada

Dear friends,

In 2025, we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnamese diaspora. After the Flag Ceremony of April 30th, the Vietnamese Canadian Federation will organize a series of events under the theme: 50 years in Canada (1975-2025): History and Perspectives of the Vietnamese Community.

It is therefore with great pride that we launch our fundraising campaign titled "$50 for 50 Years: Supporting the Vietnamese Legacy in Canada".

During the past months, we worked hard to plan for activities during the months of April and May 2025. We have partnerships with the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian Immigration Historical Society and members of the Hearts of Freedom Project: Stories of Southeast Asian Refugees led by Carleton University.

With a donation of just $50, you contribute to honoring the history of the Vietnamese diaspora in Canada and transferring the cultural heritage to their descendants. These funds will be used to organize the following commemorative events:

1. Vietnamese Cultural Day (Saturday May 3rd, 2025 at the Ottawa City Hall from 10 am to 4 pm): Kiosks and exhibits, interactive workshops of Vietnamese cooking and crafts, music and dance performances with the participation of artists from Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

2. Film screening, Conference and Panel Discussion on the Vietnamese immigration and integration experience (Sunday May 4th, 2025 at the Canadian Museum of History, from 10 am to 4 pm).

3. Collection of personality profiles and contributions of the Vietnamese Canadian community

Together, we will remember our history, celebrate our roots, strengthen our identity, and pass on our traditions to future generations.

$50 pour 50 ans : Soutenons l'héritage vietnamien au Canada

En 2025, nous commémorons le 50e anniversaire de la diaspora vietnamienne. Après la cérémonie du drapeau du 30 avril, la Fédération vietnamienne du Canada va organiser une série d’événements selon le thème : 50 ans au Canada (1975-2025) : Histoire et perspectives de la communauté vietnamienne.

C'est donc avec une grande fierté que nous lançons notre campagne de levée de fonds intitulée "$50 pour 50 ans : Soutenons l'héritage vietnamien au Canada".

Depuis plusieurs mois, nous avons travaillé fort pour planifier des activités en avril et en mai 2025. Nous avons obtenu la collaboration du Musée canadien de l’histoire, de la Société de l’histoire canadienne de l’immigration et des auteurs du projet Hearts of Freedom de l’université Carleton.

Avec un don de seulement 50 dollars, vous contribuez à honorer l’histoire de la diaspora vietnamienne au Canada et à transmettre l'héritage culturel à leurs descendants. Ces fonds seront utilisés pour organiser les événements commémoratifs suivants :

1. Journée de la culture vietnamienne (Samedi le 3 mai 2025 à l’hôtel de ville Ottawa, de 10h à 16h) : kiosques et expositions, ateliers pratiques de cuisine et d’artisanat, spectacle de musique et de danse avec la participation d’artistes venant de Montréal, Ottawa et Toronto.

2. Projection de film, conférence et discussion sur l’immigration et l’intégration (Dimanche le 4 mai 2025 de 10h à 16h, en partenariat avec le Musée canadien de l’Histoire)

3. Recueil des personnalités et des contributions de la communauté vietnamienne au Canada

Ensemble, nous pouvons rappeler l’histoire de notre communauté, célébrer nos racines, renforcer notre identité et transmettre nos traditions aux générations futures.

50 ĐÔ LA CHO 50 NĂM VIỄN XỨ: HỖ TRỢ DI SẢN VIỆT NAM TẠI CANADA

Kính thưa quý vị,

Năm 2025 đánh dấu 50 năm xa xứ của người Việt hải ngoại. Sau Lễ Thượng Kỳ vào ngày 30 tháng 4, Liên Hội Người Việt sẽ tổ chức các sinh hoạt theo chủ đề: 50 Năm Viễn Xứ (1975-2025) : Lịch Sử Và Các Triển Vọng Của Cộng Đồng Người Việt Tại Canada. Chúng tôi mong được sự ủng hộ của quý vị trong chương trình gây quỹ "50 Đô La Cho 50 Năm Viễn Xứ: Hỗ Trợ Di Sản Việt Nam Tại Canada".

Trong bảy tháng vừa qua, Liên Hội Người Việt Canada đã tích cực làm việc để tổ chức các sinh hoạt trong tháng tư và tháng năm 2025. Chúng tôi có được sự hợp tác của Viện Bảo Tàng Lịch Sử Canada, Hội Nghiên Cứu Lịch sử Di Dân Canada, và những người phụ trách dự án Trái Tim Cho Tự Do của Đại Học Carleton.

Khi quyên góp 50 đô la, quý vị góp phần vào việc thực hiện ghi nhớ lịch sử và bảo tồn di sản văn hóa của người Việt tại Canada. Quỹ này sẽ được sử dụng để tổ chức các sinh hoạt sau:

1. Ngày Văn Hoá Việt Nam (Thứ bảy, 3-5-2025 tại Toà Đô Chính Ottawa, từ 10 giờ sáng đển 4 giờ chiều) bao gồm các gian hàng triển lãm về lịch sử, văn hoá và sinh hoạt cộng đồng, các workshops (các gian hàng thực tập kỹ năng làm đèn trung thu, bánh mì Việt Nam, sơn móng tay…), chương trình văn nghệ với sự tham gia của các nghệ sĩ từ Montreal, Ottawa và Toronto.

2. Chiếu phim, hội thảo và hội luận về kinh nghiệm di trú và hội nhập của người Việt tại Canada (Chủ nhật, ngày 4-5-2025 từ 10 giờ sáng đến 4 giờ chiều, với sự hỗ trợ của Viện Bảo Tàng Lịch Sử Canada và Đại Học Carleton)

3. Đặc san “50 năm viễn xứ” trình bày 50 câu chuyện về những đóng góp của người Canada gốc Việt

Hãy cùng nhau ghi nhớ lịch sử của người Việt tỵ nạn tại hải ngoại, gia tăng sự hãnh diện về cội nguồn và truyền lại cho thế hệ con em các nét đẹp và giá trị của cộng đồng người Việt.
