The Bandon Coop 50, 50, 500 Charity Run

I’m James Crowley, just a normal 23 year old from Ballinadee (half way between Bandon and Kinsale) who is attempting to take on what most would say is an impossible feat.

On Saturday the 15th of June I’ll be running 50km carrying 50lbs all within 500 minutes. By no means do I consider myself a “runner”. I play Gaa. I’ve ran a half marathon, which is 21km aka the longest distance I’ve ever ran at once. And this is going to be a monumental challenge.

The route I am running is the circumference of my home parish, Courcey’s. I will be starting in Garrestown and returning back there 50km later.

Jason from the West Cork rapid response saved my grandfathers life. Which granted us with more time to spend with him and as a result bringing us closer before he passed in March 2023.

St. Michael’s centre in Bandon gave my grandmother incredible service when she was living in Bandon. It was her social outing where she met and chatted with others in the community. It meant a lot to her so it means a lot to me. I’ve volunteered at the centre and it really does provide excellent service and resources for the elderly.

I’ve chosen to do this event to raise funds to support both of these great causes.

What I fundraise will be split 50/50 between both.
