5 Arrested Following Savannah Vigil
Donation protected
Five protestors were arrested on the Day of the Forest Defender in Savannah GA, on their way home from a vigil for Tortuguita Teran. The Day of the Forest Defender marked the one year anniversary of Tortuguita's murder by police in the Weelaunee Forest in Atlanta. This forest is the proposed site for Cop City, an urban warfare training center for police and the IDF, which is being built in direct response to the 2020 uprisings that started in Minneapolis after the murder of George Floyd by police.
The five arrestees are now fighting a legal battle in the face of escalating political repression in the state of Georgia. They need funds for their bonds, legal fees, and to make up for wages lost for a codefendent who was fired as a result of the charges. Anything helps and we are so incredibly grateful for your support in these *trying times*.
NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL WE ARE ALL FREE. COP CITY WILL NEVER BE BUILT.
