St Francis Hospice Raheny
Donation protected
Hi
My name is Declan Gallagher and I am from Raheny, Dublin. This coming April, along with a great bunch of people from the Metro Bootcamp I’ve decided to take on one of the biggest challenges of my life so far and complete the trek up to Base Camp, Mount Everest. I have set up this page in the hope of raising some much needed funds for an extremely worthy cause, St Francis Hospice.
In July 2021, my father Tosh Gallagher sadly passed away after battling a long time with prostate cancer. During that time I was able to see firsthand the incredible service that St Francis Hospital offers to its patients but also the compassion and understanding that it extends to the patient’s families. He received the very best of care there from all of the staff and we will be eternally grateful to them.
After spending time to grieve and reflect I now feel compelled to do something in his honour and to help the community which was what he was passionate about.
The Everest Base Camp trek is a 160km round trip which will take 12 days, 8 days will be spent getting there and then the other 4 of those days to travel back down. Everest Base Camp is in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364m. I am under no illusion that this will be an extremely tough expedition both physically and mentally along with a few risks but I am determined to give it my best shot!
Any amount that you can donate would be hugely appreciated and would support a very worthy cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your generosity.
