4x4x48 for Adiatou
Donation protected
Four years ago, I was introduced to a little girl named Adiatou who will forever leave an impact on my life. Since 2017, when she was 3 years old, Adiatou has been back and forth between her home country of Burkina Faso and the US to receive medical care for a condition called arthrogryposis. This medical care has included many painful procedures including soft tissue surgeries to release painful muscle and tendon contractures, and multiple osteotomy surgeries to help improve the alignment and shape of her growing bones. During each trip to the US, Adiatou has been hosted by the McGovern (my fiancé’s) family. It has been truly amazing to see her grow over the last several years. She has endured multiple painful surgeries, learned to speak English, and took her first steps, all while maintaining the most positive and radiant attitude.
From March 5-7, 2021, I will be participating in the David Goggin’s 4x4x48 Challenge, in which I’ll run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours straight (or said differently, I will be running 48 miles in 2 days, or 1 mile for every hour for 48 hours). It would be an honor to participate in this challenge while simultaneously raising money to benefit Adiatou’s family in Burkina Faso. Fundraising efforts would help to provide clean water, food, and adequate shelter to Adiatou and her family.
