Help the Galarzas' Citizenship Dream
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lora Leigh, and I am Jose Galarza's mother-in-law. I have watched Jose and my daughter, Haley, with great pride as they have been tackling Jose's immigration journey, and I would love to help them reach the last part of this challenging process so Jose can finally apply for his citizenship. For those new to the Galarzas' story, please watch the attached video where they are featured in an episode of Our City, Our Story. To make a long story short, the most recent part of this arduous road is that Jose received his green card and has had it for three years. Lawful permanent residents, like Jose, can apply for citizenship if they have been married to the same U.S. citizen for three years since receiving a green card. Jose and Haley have never asked for financial assistance and knowing them, this would be a very difficult thing for them to do, so this is where I step in. I have seen my dear son-in-law and daughter work so hard to make this dream become a reality. To put things in perspective, to date, Jose and Haley have spent upwards of $15,000 out of pocket--from Jose getting his DACA card, renewing it several times, and finally getting his green card. For Jose to complete the last leg of this process and to receive his citizenship, they need to send a check for $725.00 to the Department of Homeland Security along with his application and supporting documents. They will also need to come up with $2475.00 for legal services from Hoffman Immigration Law. I am asking for the community's help for this one last push to the finish line. If we can raise at least $3500.00, Jose and Haley can officially begin the application process. If any excess funds are received, the Galarza family will donate the funds to local families that are going through similar situations. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help, and I know the Galarzas will be beyond grateful for your support, too.
