This GoFundMe is being set up on behalf of the Kidwell-Condaye family. Shannon and Wroderick are the parents of two beautiful boys, Jeremiah (6) and Elijah (just shy of 3 months!). It is being set up by Robin Casey, Shannon's close friend of 16 years.
This sweet little family is hoping to get a boost to get into some stable housing by mid November, 2020. They left their apartment in Las Vegas last fall after their rent was scheduled to double. They stayed with another friend temporarily in Utah, and landed in Palestine, Texas in early 2020. It was during their stay in Utah that Shannon learned she was pregnant with Elijah. Their big move, and the subsequent COVID situation left them with fewer resources, and with minimal support. They have been staying with friends of Wroderick in a trailer on their property, but the time has come for them to have a stable place for them and their two kids.
Shannon is immunocompromised, and has been staying at home with Jeremiah. Wroderick has been working retail since they landed in Texas. During Shannon's stay at the hospital giving birth (with Elijah needing a stay in the NICU for blood sugar issues), Wroderick was diagnosed with COVID and was unable to work for several weeks while he quarantined and recovered. With the needs of a new baby who spent a week in the NICU, a first grader, and new notice to find a new spot, this put them behind where they were hoping to be, once again.
Local assistance resources have been hard to come by since COVID hit. (Also, neither Shannon nor Wroderick drive, so getting them closer to a town area where they have better access to public transportation is of utmost importance.) It's also important for safety, wellbeing, and a sense of home. This family of four needs more space than the trailer they've been renting from a friend. They have two growing boys, and are both artists hoping to have space to work on projects (for creative and financial reasons).
Shannon has found a small home closer to town that they can rent for $725 a month. The deposit is $500. This GoFundMe is hoping to set them up with their first month and the deposit. Other needs include a new refrigerator (as the property does not come with one installed), setting up utilities, and some furniture. Most of their belongings are in storage, and they left the majority of their furniture in Las Vegas when they left.
