Help us rescue Evan from the orphanage!
Donation protected
We are Christe, Raymundo, and Laura Orta. For the past 7 years we have been content to be a family of 3. However, recently, God placed a mission on our hearts that we are unable to avoid :-)
Meet Evan! He is a 2 year old little boy who lives in Eastern Europe. His parents abandoned him at 1-month old because he has Down Syndrome. Each day since he has been lying a crib with no hope for a future, no one to hold him, no one to call him their own.
We recently became aware of the conditions that children with disabilities face in certain countries...life behind crib bars, no medical care, diapers changed and fed broth maybe once a day, never held or taken outside. We learned that these children waste away in these orphanages until they are 5 years old and then they are transferred to an adult institution where they may live to see their 6th birthday. Most children die within a year of being institutionalized.
Some people ask us why we want to travel half way around the world to adopt a child when there are many here in the US who need a home....the answer is simple...this is where God is sending us. There are no country borders when it comes to love and acceptance. A child in need is a child in need, no matter what country they may have been born into. (Also, just for FYI purposes...we have tried twice to go through our local social services and were met with roadblock after roadblock)
We fell in love with Evan the moment we saw his sweet face on Reece's Rainbow (a site that helps to advocate and raise $$ for the adoption of children in need). Since then we have been on a mission to raise enough money to be able to break him free of a life of hopelessness and bring him home to be a part of our family. In our eyes, he is our son.
The total estimated cost to complete Evan's adoption is about $35,000. So far we have raised almost $7000. We need your help! We have a loving home where we will be able to love, care, and raise him. We have medical insurance to cover his health care and therapies once the adoption is final. Christie is an Early Childhood Special Education teacher and has many years of experience working with children with disabilities (including Down Syndrome). What we don't have is $35,000 in our back pocket to pull out to make this adoption possible.
Please do some research for yourself and see how children are being treated half a world away. Maybe you are not in a position to adopt a child yourself...but maybe you are in a position to help a child find a home. Maybe you are in a position to give $5 or maybe $50 or maybe more. 100% of donations received will go toward Evan's adoption. If, God willing, we raise more than we need for Evan's adoption, the remaining money will be donated to another family in our position...another family in the position to adopt but just needs a helping hand to get there.
We thank you from the bottom of our heart for anything that you would be willing to contribute...even if you are only able to share our story with your friends and family. No child deserves to live a life this way...all children deserve hope and a loving family. God Bless!
