My nephew Isaac Alexander was born on the morning of April 25, 2018, a healthy 7 pounds 14 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. What started out as one of the best days for our family turned to the worst within a couple of hours. My brother left to go check on their fur baby at home while my sister in law and Isaac were resting. A nurse came in the room to check in and noticed Isaac’s skin had a blue/purple tint. She immediately took him to the NICU. This is when things took a turn for the worst. My brother and his wife were notified that their baby was going to be airlifted to a nearby emergency center. That is the hardest and most helpless feeling after bringing your beautiful baby into the world.
Isaac was diagnosed on the 26th with transposition of the great arteries (TGA),a congenital heart defect, after transfer from the NICU to the children's hospital. He has undergone a surgery to stabilize him at CHKD and is currently in the PICU waiting on an opening with a pediatric cardiac surgeon for surgery to correct the defect. Isaac is waiting to be transferred to UVA medical center sometime next week for open heart surgery. He is expected to be at UVA for at least 2 weeks following the procedure, during which time Dylan and Sierra will of course be staying there along side Isaac.
The medical center is a 3 hour commute from their home. They will have to board their adorable German Shepherd Maya for a few weeks while they are away.
I am creating this GoFundMe asking anyone who is able to help them with all of the bills that will be coming in. Dylan will be out of work during this time. Between the medical bills, food, Maya’s boarding, gas to commute, and cost of living it is all going to add up.
Isaac is one strong little guy and Dylan and Sierra are two very strong people with so much love and support around them. With that said, this is going to be the hardest fight of all of their lives and the last thing they should worry about is the cost of saving their baby’s life.
Thanks for reading! Any donations will be greatly appreciated and please share this with all your friends and family!
