In memory of Jyotika Lekh

Hi my name is Nandita and I'm fundraising for a close friend(just like family) who passed away suddenly on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the young age of 46 leaving behind 3 young boys and her husband.

Jyoti,as I know her, has been an integral part of my family and my Montessori School for the last 10 years.

Jyoti was a caring, loving and giving person who always went above and beyond to help anybody and everybody.

I met Jyoti almost 10 years ago when she came to be my mother's caregiver (she was a qualified psw). She looked after my mother in her last years and I will be forever indebted to her. When my mother passed away in January of 2016, I offered Jyoti a job at my Montessori school. She was in need of a full time job- she had 3 boys and her husband to look after. She was a quick learner and enjoyed her time with the children so much that, she took the Montessori Assistant's course. She continued to work 2 jobs, as her dream was to move from her rental apartment to a house. This dream was realized in 2018 when she managed to buy a house in Pickering. How proud she was! She had a wonderful housewarming party for us. In the 6+ years that she worked at my school, she became the best baker and crafts teacher we ever had. She learnt to take out recipes and designs from the internet and would spend days having the children create beautiful crafts and delicious cakes, muffins and bread.

This was Jyoti. And she is gone... leaving a huge void...

She was the pillar of her family. They are distraught. They are also in a financial crisis. All her children are not yet earning (only one is) and the youngest is only 16.

They need our support.
