My name is Abbie. And I’m fundraising for my mum, Joy. We were told by a doctor at the beginning of October that she has stage 4b ovarian cancer. Recently, she underwent major surgery to remove a 23cm tumour, which thankfully reduced some of the cancer — but heartbreakingly, it has spread to her pelvis, lymph nodes, back, and her belly button.

Here in the UK, chemotherapy is the only option available to her, but doctors have told us that it offers only a 5–8% chance of success in her case. As a family, we can’t just sit and accept those odds — we need to do everything we can to save her life.

Joy has been referred to the Chemothermia Hospital in Turkey, which offers a unique integrated approach combining:

When your family receives news like this, it truly feels like your heart is being ripped out. My mum is my best friend, an amazing grandma to her grandchildren, and a devoted wife to my Dad. I'm not ready to say goodbye to her and we will do everything in our power to prolong her life. We want her to be able to continue to watch her grandchildren grow up.
