Donate Your Stimulus Check to Immigrant Families
On Monday April 5, 2020, Minority Humanitarian Foundation launched the MHF COVID-19 Immigrant Family Relief Fund to provide grants to immigrants and immigrant families in San Diego County who have lost all or part of their income due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Many immigrant workers are ineligible for certain federal and state benefits such as unemployment and food stamps. These same people have also been overlooked in the federal stimulus package, and will not receive stimulus checks. Their basic needs are not being met, and no safety net exists for them at this time.
Thankfully, many people who are now receiving their federal stimulus checks are fortunate enough to still have their jobs and financial stability, and are now looking to donate their funds to those who have fallen through the cracks.
If you are looking to give some, or all, stimulus check, please consider donating to the MHF COVID-19 Immigrant Relief Fund, and #passthecheck. Or, if you are above the threshold but looking to contribute in a meaningful way, we need you too!
Your donation will go directly to the pocket of our immigrant neighbors to support them through new and existing challenges.
In addition to this GoFundMe campaign, we are personally pledging $5,000 to the Relief Fund, and one of our supporters has already matched our commitment, bringing our current fund to $10,000!
More about us: This effort by Minority Humanitarian Foundation is in solidarity with many local leaders and organizations, including The Latina Muslim Foundation, Mas Pace San Diego and Haitian Bridge Alliance. The mission of Minority Humanitarian Foundation is to provide a humanitarian response to the issues facing asylum-seekers and refugees on a global scale. MHF believes that all humans should be treated with dignity and respect, despite country of origin. Through on-the-ground relief efforts, health services, housing, transportation services and legal representation we work to ensure the health and safety of the people we work with. Then through education and job placement we work to ensure their success in a new country.
Humanity knows no borders. #shareyourstimulus #passthecheck
