It’s the mountains that people first notice in Vancouver. The snow-capped peaks that can be seen from anywhere in the city, hinting at the great outdoors just beyond this world-class metropolis. And it’s Vancouver’s North Shore that serves as the gateway between city and sky, urban chic and natural wonder. For those who choose to make North Vancouver home, they can be kayaking in five minutes, rock climbing in an hour, or, conversely, in their downtown Vancouver office in half an hour or less.
A growing community of like-minded families has turned North Vancouver into one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, and today it is home to some 3,000 Jews. This year, Rabbi Mendy and Miki Mochkin, along with their children Sara, Levi and Anya, will establish Chabad of the North Shore, adding active Jewish life to the North Shore’s long list of unique amenities.
