Since late 2016, my father’s life has been turned upside down after a debilitating work injury left him unable to return to his job. What should have been his strongest years of providing for his family instead became a daily struggle to recover, both physically and financially. On top of this, years before his injury, he was the victim of identity theft, which severely damaged his credit and made rebuilding even harder.

Today, both of my parents are out of work and actively searching for opportunities, but my father’s injury makes it especially difficult for him. Despite all of this, they’ve worked tirelessly to hold on to what matters most — their home. Unfortunately, due to poor financial advice from someone they once trusted, they now owe a large amount in back property taxes. They’ve already sacrificed a lot, including selling their car to cover part of the debt, but unexpected medical expenses continue to set them back.

The heartbreaking reality is that if they cannot make the payments by the end of the year, they risk losing the home they’ve poured their lives into. This house represents decades of hard work, sacrifice, and love — and losing it would be devastating.
