Forgotten Regulars Dementia Group
Donation protected
This Sunday, 6th July, my son Kai will be taking on the Croyde Ocean Triathlon — a seriously tough challenge involving a 1.5km ocean swim, a 37km bike ride, and a 12km trail run — all to raise funds for a local dementia support group very close to our hearts: The Forgotten Regulars.
In January 2024, my mum Heather was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Since then, we've come to understand just how important community, connection, and compassion are — not just for those living with dementia, but for their families and carers too.
That’s exactly what The Forgotten Regulars provides. Founded by Sharon Mattin at The Union Arms in Tyldesley, this beautiful group has spent the last decade creating joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging for people living with dementia and their carers. What began as Sharon’s way of supporting her own mum has grown into a monthly gathering filled with live music, delicious meals, and genuine friendship — a lifeline that lifts spirits and brings light to lives touched by dementia.
I have seen firsthand how these afternoons make a difference — how they remind people of who they are, not just the diagnosis they carry. And now Kai wants to give something back.
Please consider supporting Kai as he takes on this massive physical challenge. Any donation, big or small, will go directly to supporting the continued work of this incredible group.
Let’s help keep the smiles coming, the music playing, and the community strong. Thank you so much for your support
