I lost a very good friend Pierce Higgins to Motor Neurone Disease on the 20th of Jan 2023. Pierce was an outstanding sportsman and I am proud to say I played many the hurling game along side him for our local GAA club, Ballyhaunis GAA.

Pierce was one of the bravest hurling players I ever had the pleasure of knowing but It was only after his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease that I truly realised what an amazing and courageous man he was. The support Pierce, his amazing wife Clare, his daughters and wider family and friends received from IMND was fantastic.

In honour of Pierce and to help the IMNDA continue their vital work, I am raising funds to support their efforts. Every donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much and make a real difference.

To show my support I will be running the Dublin City Marathon on October 26th- a full 42.2km- in Pierces memory

The Association cannot slow the progression of MND or change the outcome but we can alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration. We offer vital services and support to approximately 400 families across Ireland who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn.
