The Ethiopia DeafProject recently set up a school for the Deaf in Ambo, Ethiopia. As children of Deaf adults ourselves, this is a program we are deeply invested in -- spreading Deaf culture and making education more easily and readily accessible to the Deaf in all areas of the world. Our first stop will be at the school where we hope to set up a two week camp while the school is not in session, allowing members of the Deaf community the opportunity to reunite outside of a school session -- something that is very rare in Ethiopia. Along with the normal camp activities, we hope to put on a few Deaf awareness and empowerment workshops meant to show the community how they can thrive in a culture that typically tells them they cannot.
While we're there we will be taking photographs, videos, and writing articles/journal entries that we would love to share with all of our supporters once we're back home!
