Cockfosters Crime ANPR and CCTV Project

A crime reduction initiative as a result of requests from the local community.

 

With the support from the local Met Police Safer Neighbourhood Team, Neighbourhood Watch, local Councillors, Hadley Wood Security, and CLARA (Cockfosters Local Area Residents Association).

 

CRIME IS RISING

• Crime related activity is rising as detailed in the local monthly police newsletters

• ANPR Cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)/CCTV are proving to be helping police with detection rates and deter criminals, but policing funds are limited.

• Neighbouring Hadley Wood already has this in place.

 

 

SUPPORT ANPR/CCTV FOR COCKFOSTERS

• Hadley Wood Security  (a community group of local residents) have kindly donated the funds for the first two camera sites within the Cockfosters ward area.

• £9,000  has already been raised independently through local fundraising.

We have just received a wonderful donation from Chase New Homes of £15,000. 

• We are now approaching residents and businesses to raise funds to add further camera sites to the wider Cockfosters ward area.

• We aim to raise as much money as possible to provide ANPR/CCTV camera coverage in Cockfosters ward. The initial phase will be critically placed cameras covering entry/exit points to Cockfosters, then moving further within the Cockfosters ward area.

• Each site costs around £3,000, and the initial phase to seal the area will be ten sites.

• The number of cameras will only be limited by the number of donations received.
