I was privileged to experience a Make-A-Wish trip that was granted to my son Gabriel recently. We ended up at Disney World, a place that Gabe enjoyed immensely as a young child. I was worried that Gabe would have a difficult time, but was really overwhelmed by the kindness, compassion and care we received from resort staff, employees and a wonderful group of volunteers. There were many other children that we encountered on a Disney wish trip, and it was amazing to witness how everyone went out of their way to bring out a smile and share a bit of love to these kiddos. For brief moments through those interactions there wasn't overwhelming sickness or hopeless worry, just a smile and the sound of happiness that sometimes feels all to fleeting for many of these families. I could never repay the priceless gift Make-a-Wish and the many kind people provided Gabe and our family but I hope to pay a portion of it forward to hopefully bless another families. Therefore, as my birthday wish, I hoping for others to please join me in supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island in their efforts to bring a bit of joy and happiness to those kiddos that have endured so much.
