In 2020, the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) filed a lawsuit against technology entrepreneurs Sundar Iyer, Ramana Kompella, and Cisco Systems.
To build its case, the CRD launched a xenophobic attack, vilifying upper-caste Indian Americans as dominant, oppressive, privileged, bigoted, and more. Without evidence, the CRD accused Indian Americans of committing thousands of assaults, including rape, on Dalits in America. After Iyer and Kompella served a motion to sanction the state prosecutors, the CRD was forced to drop the case against them. The CRD was sanctioned by the judge in April 2024.
The entire Hindu community is falsely accused of inherent discrimination and bigotry. The case has also fueled anti-caste policies, including the now-vetoed California Bill, SB-403. The false narrative of “dominant caste” Hindus persecuting Dalits in America has gained traction in the U.S., Canada, and beyond. Several universities and companies have already adopted “caste” policies, vilifying Hindu and Indian Americans based on false data. CasteGate is a 90-minute documentary of the CRD and activists' continuing attack on the Hindu and Indian community, featuring interviews, graphics, and anti-Hindu propaganda from lobby groups.
Without your support, this documentary won't be possible. Our initial fundraising helped us hire a top Director, but we now need additional funds to cover production costs and launch a strong publicity campaign. Your donation will benefit Indian Americans and all allies fighting for truth and justice in America.
