Help fly me to the Thar Desert
Donation protected
Hey, this is Ginna. I'm fundraising for a volunteer opportunity in India, if you can help me out please keep reading!
When I completed high school I had a big drive to further my studies in photography as a means of social and environmental change and justice, as well as to capture the beauty of the land and the people around me. In my university in San Francisco, I soon found out that the lack of simplicity, humility and the excess and prioritization of materiality, money, and fashion was such a central aspect of the educational system and people there, that I quit. How can one live simply and give simply?
Since then I have been seeking to participate in communities that sustain each other and look to create justice in the harsher political/social/economic/environmental situations that surround us. I know this is a very broad statement, but frankly I'm interested and passionate about so many issues, highest among which are women's rights, bioremediation, land rights, ethnic and social conflict and too much more. On this path I managed to get the opportunity to volunteer for six months with a small but hope-inspiring organization in the Thar Desert of India, GVNML, which integrates ecological and social permanence on a very local level. I aspire to walk with these passionate people and the land in this struggle. I am convinced that I could greatly benefit from working with GVNML, and gain not only greater sensibilities to the land and people around me but also the skills to serve with more gentleness and perspective. I hope to be able to use my desire to listen, to help, my energy to work and my knowledge in photography, alternative agriculture, as well as my time and life, to participate in working with them.
I write to you to ask for help with funding my trip to the Thar Desert. I realize that this is asking a lot, and I will be incredibly grateful for every contribution. However, as most of you know, my financial situation is less than ideal and I don't have much support in that area. Thank you so much, and know that I will deeply appreciate every donation, regardless of the amount. The money you decide to share with me will go towards covering my travel expenses, namely my plane ticket.
I'll be writing a monthly newsletter, which will be sent to every single person who donates, even if it's just a dollar. Just make sure to leave your contact information. Anonymous donations are also welcome. Feel free to e-mail me.
Sincerely, Ginna Quesada.
