On December 5, 2022, the life of the Carley family was turned upside down. They went from what they thought was a stubborn case of strep throat for their 13-year-old daughter, Aleyah, to a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia and were immediately transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria. She has begun her second round of chemotherapy and she is preparing for a bone marrow transplant in the near future.
Jim and Theresa are splitting their time between being in Peoria with Aleyah and being home in Potomac with their two younger boys. Nothing about this is easy and they wouldn’t wish it on their worst enemy, but they have some amazing doctors and nurses that are helping them to navigate this. Aleyah has been so strong and the maturity and poise with which she has handled this has been amazing. Jim and Theresa could not be more proud of her.
Thank you all for everything that you’ve done and are doing to help them through this. They love you all. They ask to keep those prayers going.
An account has also been set up at the Gifford State Bank. The name of the account is "Aleyah Carley Benefit." Donations can also be dropped off at this branch.
