My name is Noah and I am a year 10 student at Poole Grammar School. Next Summer, we have been given an incredible opportunity to travel to Tanzania for 4 weeks and work directly with local communities to help build facilities that will make a lasting impact, both humanitarian and environmental.

This is being done through Camps International who pride themselves in their ethical and sustainability approach. They partner with local community leaders in all locations, establish long-term relationships with communities prior to building camps and only build camps on community land where we have identified a need for our presence. They employ and train staff from the community and ensure locals are involved in all decision making. They employ local, buy local and build local, purchasing sustainable and locally produced products for our camps and encouraging our travellers to purchase from local stores and markets.

I’ll be helping to:

Work on a range of projects throughout your expedition, each aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region’s most critical issues.

Help by building or renovating school buildings to create learning environments, as well as building sustainable housing for families.

Assist in improving natural waterholes and constructing elephant deterrent fences to safeguard the future for these incredible animals.

Getting involved in environmental projects such as tree planting, digging waterholes or making elephant dung paper.

This trip is really important to me as I am looking to hopefully pursue a career in this field of work, therefore having this experience will be massively helpful for me to get into university or give me a step up in finding a job that I enjoy. Fundraising is a massive aspect of this field of work, therefore we have been asked to fundraise the cost of this trip to gain a skill we can use later in life.

To make this trip a reality, I have to raise £5270.

Every single donation will go toward the cost of this trip. I will not pocket a penny. Some of my fundraising will include, weekend work, bake sales, help in the area local to where I live and I have a physical challenge planned for the summer which again, will give me vital skills needed for this trip and the future.
