Attorney fees

I know it’s been a while since anyone has seen me post on her so you know it must be important. Indeed it is. In 2021 We were lucky enough to get stationed in the same city as my son Rashad, San Antonio TX. We haven’t lived in the same city since he was 2. That’s when his mom was stationed in Florida (2012). When last spring she got orders to move again, but this time Rashad was old enough to say where he wants to live and he chose to live with me and my family. That was the start of a custody law suit between his mom and I. A lawyer was hired to represent Rashad (I pay for) as his mom and I have our own I felt it was best to do so for him. The lawyer came to our home as well as his moms and has met with him several times throughout this process to make sure she understood why he was making the decision he was making. We had a hearing last August Rashad, along with his lawyer were able to speak to the presiding Judge and voice where he wanted to live. We were awarded temporary custody of him over his mom. It was to see how well he adjusted during the school year etc. Well he finished 7th grade with A & B honor roll, all while having these meetings with his lawyer, flying to Colorado (where she now lives) to see his mom monthly. He’s over come a lot in this short year and still remains resilient. Unfortunately the opposing party has chosen to take this to a jury trial to decide custody. We tried to settle via mediation but were unable too. We have spent approximately $28k so far. While was still paying child support to his mom because we didn’t have the signed orders until this past week. The delay was due to the opposing party. We have maxed out all of our credit cards and depleted our savings. The attorney fees for this trial will be $31k. Because of our debt to income we don’t qualify for a loan. We’ve gone to several local banks and explained the situation but have been declined. Our trial starts 26th of this month all fees are due the no later than the 16th. We’re asking all of you here to help us help my sons voice be heard and stay here with my wife and his sisters. This is our last resort.
