Storage for Our Shoes
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Sole Stepping, LLC, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
SOLE Stepping continues to meet needs in our community on a shoestring budget. Our goal to be good stewards of every donation no matter how big or small can be seen by providing over 10,000 pairs of shoes in the past 7 years. We have never had an employee. We have never had a building. We have never had a vehicle. We have never had a trailer. We have relied on volunteers, donors, and the generosity of our friends and neighbors to store shoes, buy shoes, pack shoes, transport shoes, load shoes, unload shoes, serve our children and clean up only to start all over again the following year! We are so grateful to have the opportunity to serve our community for the 8th year!
In 2022, we were days away from purchasing a building. We had plans. We had a vision. We had grand ideas. We were scheduled to close on Tuesday and 5 days before, the seller sold the building to someone else. We found out Monday night that it was sold. It took the wind out of our sails. We cried. We felt defeated. We now lean into the fact that the building sits empty still and is falling into great disrepair. That tells us we were protected from a poor investment and we are grateful. YET, we were still able to serve over 4,000 children...ALL of those shoes and 2.000 MORE spare shoes were stored in our home. This came as a huge sacrifice to my family, as shoes and socks covered every flat surface during the holiday season for ANOTHER year.
We continue to adjust to our limited space and have made the difficult decision to serve less children in 2023 although the needs continue to grow. We now have over 29.000 children on our waiting list. Our local communities continue to embrace our mission by generously sponsoring these children AND we have nearly 2.000 children sponsored already this year.
I will keep asking for building fund donations so one day space will not be the defining factor of who we can serve and how we can serve. I have learned that no donation is too small and no donation is too large because combined, they will provide!
