Dublin Marathon for Autism Awareness
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Saoirse and as anyone close to me would know, one of the most important people in my life is my little brother Eoin.
Eoin was diagnosed with autism as a baby and has always been non-verbal. This means unfortunately he is very much dependent on those around him, and that we as his family have to place a lot of trust in others as he cannot communicate everything to us. Thankfully he has always been surrounded by kind and supportive people who give him the help and company he needs.
This is why I am preparing to run the Dublin marathon to raise funds for the Keith Duffy foundation , who provides support to a lot of hardworking groups such as AWA to support people and families impacted by an autism diagnosis, as a gesture to give back and say thanks.
I'd also like to raise awareness for the support needed for young adults in particular on the severe autism spectrum(Level 3 ASD), and their parents who face a lot of uncertainty about next steps and the future once secondary education is completed. This is an area that is often overlooked and I would love to see more initiatives growing for these young adults!
I'd really appreciate any donations and/or shares to help spread the word!
Thanks,
Saoirse & Eoin
