Aloha, my dad and I are currently in West Maui where so much help is needed for those who lost their loved ones, homes, animals, vehicles, jobs and so much more from the horrible fires in Lahaina, Maui. My dad lost his Job of 10 years teaching art to senior citizens along with a bunch of his original artwork and his Motorcycle in the fire, but we are still so grateful because he is alive and many friends have lost so much more and need help immediately. West Maui has gone about a week without power, gas and phone service, but some of us are lucky enough to get maybe 1 or 2 bars of service if we stand in the right spots by the ocean that move around. It’s hard to even get this out to the public right now, but we are not receiving the proper supplies from our government, FEMA or Military. Locals are desperately trying to get into Lahaina side with cars loaded up with gas, food and water, but keep getting blocked from getting through by military checkpoints. Some locals have been resourceful and come in on their own small motors boats into the beaches loaded up with supplies for us. Lahaina is so full of Aloha and everyone here is just grateful to be alive with our community and helping one another, but we are desperate to stay together as a community and rebuild the homes that were lost. The unique beauty you find in Hawaii comes from the people, the locals and most importantly the indigenous Hawaiians and their culture. We are desperate to keep this land in the hands of our locals. We appreciate any amount you can give directly to local families in Lahaina. Much Aloha and Mahalo, from west Maui.
